New Life Playlist - an Easter Series
The Psalms were written as praise songs, many of them in anticipation of what was coming. We’re living it now! This series will be beneficial for new/young Christians as well as veterans because of its focus on sanctified living in light of the good news of Easter. It answers both the “now what?” and “who cares?” questions that are important for engaging adults.

Easter Day (April 4, if we wantitto be included) Psalm 118 “The Theme Song”: Look at what God accomplishes in his love! He helps and protects; he rescues and defends. Make no mistake about it: on Easter, it’s God’s love that wins the day. Living in that love creates comfort, joy, peace, and a thankful heart.
Easter 2 (April 11) Psalm 16 “The Pop Single”: “You are my Lord; apart from you I have nothing.” When God is the only place you run to for safety and advice, when he is the main focus of your life, David shares the delightful and secure feelings that flow from that. And God’s promise of rescue from the grave causes joy and praise in life now! New life in Christ means joy and security you can only find in God
Easter 3 (April 18) Psalm 150 “The Arena Rock Anthem”: The last song in the Psalms is a great summary of the whole songbook and fits into our theme well: this is what living the praise life looks like!
Easter 4 (April 25) Psalm 23 “The Lo-fi Jam”: The first part of this psalm usually gets all of the attention and focus. But how does the whole song tie together?Isn’t it awesome that you get to have a victory celebration while death lies beaten in the corner? That victory God has given you through Jesus over the valley of the shadow of death is the only thing that can lead to living a life of a peaceful sheep in God’s pastures.
Easter 5 (May 2) Psalm 63 “The Unrequited Love Power Ballad”: In a world that doggedly pursues so many things that will never fill them up the way they want and need to be, David’s time in the desert inspired him. Like a dry, weary land without water wants and needs water...so the one with new life in Jesus seeks out God. And what will they find? Their God satisfies them with the richest love anyone has ever experienced.
Easter 6 (May 9) Psalm 88 “The Blues”: What about when things aren’t all sunshine and rainbows? What about when we need a song to go along with our pain, loneliness, abandonment, and suffering? This psalm may be one of the most depressing ones, but there are glimmers of hope. Followers of Christ beg God for relief from these things, recognizing that such relief will serve as a sign of God’s love and faithfulness to his promises.
